1988/89

Next President of the Club was John Dwane, while Paul Clerkin at this stage seemed to have made the position of Secretary his own.

Dave Reynolds ran the Dublin City Marathon on behalf of the Club, raising £1,034. This was a very sporting year as the Club team won the Regional Golf final in Killarney.

Having had some involvement with the setting up of Midleton Club, several members attended their inaugural event.

The Christmas Appeal was run this year in conjunction with S.I.R (local radio station), with Society of St. Vincent de Paul involvement. For the first time auctions were held as part of the Appeal. The Club also had the Christmas Food Appeal. These were, in later years, amalgamated.

Another top-line group, the Dublin City Ramblers were the headline act at the annual Cabaret, which netted £1,023 this year.

The Cycle Tour was boosted  by support from the Boy Scouts, a local rock band, Dungarvan Pipe Band and Dungarvan Brass Band. Numbers participating increased greatly. The Boy Scouts were beneficiaries of this fundraiser.

The Club became involved in National Tree Week, enlisting six schools to participate. Another first in the year was the involvement of the Club in the People in Need Telethon by having a shoe shine stall in Grattan Square.

The Club had a float in the St. Patrick's Day parade - and won the Vintage section!

Again this year we continued with the many tried and trusted fundraisers and service activities, amongst which were the Carriglea Summer and Christmas outings, Mosney Holiday, Over 55s Talent, Christmas Swim, Annual Dinner, golf outings, sponsorship of Senior Citizens visit to the Choral Society presentation, and St. John's outing.
