1990/91

Richie Walsh was the thirteenth President of the Club, with Paul Clerkin once again being Secretary.

The year started out with a trip to Wexford for 50 residents of Carriglea, where a meal was also enjoyed.

After the Summer break, the Club hosted a Zone Meeting in early September.

The now long running cabaret was held at the end of October, raising £2,900 for local charities. Also in October the Club competed in the regional finals of Lions/RTE over 55s Talent Contest, with one representative getting through to the National Final.

The Christmas Swim raised over £1,000 while the Christmas Appeal amounted to over £8,000. Members assisted in the preparation and distribution of Christmas Hampers for the elderly.

In March, 75 senior citizens were taken to a production by the local Choral Society, while a party was held for 40 handicapped people. The Club also had a float in the Dungarvan St. Patrick's Day Parade, in what was a very busy month.

As Spring came, a sponsored cycle/walk was held, with the proceeds going to the Cappoquin Daycare Centre and Dungarvan Pipe Band.

The year ended up, also, with plenty of activity in May and June. Tom Farmer, District Governor, visited in May while a Golf Week shortly afterwards raised £1,000, and a Duck Race down the Colligan river brought in some £2,000. Also, in that period, the Club brought six senior citizens to Mosney.

All of the fundraising during the year enabled Dungarvan Lions to assist many local, national and international charities. Amongst those were Guide Dogs, Community Games, Bonmahon Lifeguards, Senior Citizens Party, and lots more.
