John Coade was elected as 9th President in the now well established Club. Paul Clerkin continued as Secretary while the previous year's President, John Hurley, became Zone Chairman.

A golf outing and Gala Night were held over the Summer months. In a subsequent analysis it was felt that the Gala Night should be considered in depth before proceeding again the following year.

The Club facilitated a seminar by AA on drink related problems in December.

The minutes of the year reflected a very healthy Zone. District Governor, Tom Heine, paid a visit to the Club, made some suggestions, with many taken on board, and also praised the Club on its achievements.

A real effort was put into the annual Cabaret this year, including an additional special Club meeting, and this paid dividends, with 450 people attending what was generally regarded as the best yet. Brendan Grace (Bottler) was the headline act.

A talent competition was held in conjunction with Waterford Lions Club.

A very novel fundraiser was held immediately pre Christmas called The Silver Square, whereby the public were encouraged to lay coins in a line in Grattan Square. This raised £678. This event was the product of a brainstorming session by the New Project Committee set up in the early part of the season by President John.

Early in the year some concern was expressed over some members no longer attending meetings or being actively involved. However, during the year there was quite an influx of new members and the club remained vibrant.

Most of the hardy annuals were run during the season i.e. golf outings, Mosney Holiday, Christmas Food Appeal, Christmas swim, Lismore and Dungarvan Hospital visits, Carriglea Christmas outing, to mention just some.
